Marc Bernardin is a television writer-producer as well as a comic book author. His TV work includes serving as a supervising producer on Star Trek: Picard, a supervising producer on Starz’s The Continental, was most recently a producer on Amazon’s Victorian fantasy series Carnival Row, a co-producer on the USA Network spy drama Treadstone, a staff writer on the first season of Castle Rock, the Stephen King and J.J. Abrams original series for Hulu, and a staff writer on Syfy’s superheroic television series Alphas.

In an earlier life, he was an entertainment journalist: He was the Film Editor for the Los Angeles Times, overseeing the paper’s movie coverage and coordinating the efforts of a dozen staffers. He was also the Deputy Editor of Playboy.com, a senior editor for The Hollywood Reporter, a senior editor for Entertainment Weekly, managing editor of Starlog magazine, and a consulting editor for Fangoria magazine. As a freelance writer, he has contributed to Wired, GQ, Empire, Details, Vulture.com, and Syfy.com.

He also has written a fair number of comic books over the years. His most recent is Adora and the Distance, an original graphic novel coming from Comixology in early 2020. Other works include Genius (Image), an urban revolutionary miniseries which The A.V. Club called “the most relevant comic on stands, Static Shock (one of DC Comics’ premiere African-American superheroes), X-Men Origins: Nightcrawler, Wolverine, The Authority, The Highwaymen, and Monster Attack Network.

(yay first to review and my first review in all...) I've never been much of an american comic book fan. My area of expertise has always been japanese animation. But several years ago X-men came out with their third live action movie and something about it seemed very appealing. I then watched all the movies and ended up really liking them alot, specifically the character of nightcrawler. At first i assumed he was a character made for the movies but once i started to research the character he turned out to be a very important character throughout the X-men series. When i became curious about where the character Kurt Wagner came from (aside from the fact that it is already known he is from Germany) I talked to some comic fan friends of mine and they suggested this particular comic.

When i read it i was AMAZED at the beauty of the animation itself. That alone was enough to win me over easily (i had read reviews of it online at the time) i couldnt resist. i had to buy it. This comic is wonderful, it explains in detail how, where and in what conditions the character was raised, how his powers manifested and how he got his name, while keeping an air of mystery around the story of which even he, Kurt, is unaware of. The dialogue is simple, easy to understand and does not disappoint, Kurt speaks both english and german and i found it fun translating the words (seeing as i know a little german myself).

all and all a wonderful comic, visually spectacular and emotionally gripping, i give this a two thumbs up and recommend it for any X-men fan and marvel fan in general. For a one shot its certainly caught my attension and i am currently off in search of more.

This story takes place in Germany and tails the tail of Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) shows for the first time the tail of where this teliporting blue demon came from. It covers much of the development of the older knightcrawler but skips over most of his linage. Out of the two or so pages that it talks about his childhood it gives quite a bit of inside to how he was rejected as a kid. It tells also when he learned of his ability and why he takes on the name of Wagner.
Out of all of the x-men origins comics up till the point of Knightcrawler this was byfar one of the best. it had great artwork, diolouge, and story. this is one to add to the collection.

I have been looking for this comic for so long!! This is the cheapest version.
Kurt wagner (vagener german accent remember) aka night crawler never fitted in go on his adventure to discover the true meaning of this special (my favourite) x-man. Also a sneak peak at the arrival of his first adventure as being a x man.
Man I wish he had his own movie !!!! Its short but so so so amazing!
