What is White Noise?

Purchased for $29.99 in September 2016 for our newborn. Sounds started malfunctioning and freaking out after two weeks of use, ordered a replacement, and we have had zero issues since.UPDATE: Going on almost 3 years of nightly use, 12+ hours nightly, plus 2+ hours for nap/quiet time, both plugged in and running on a charge. Still loving it!
