From the Author
Thank you for taking the time outto read this. My love of books can be traced back to the time I spentas a kid living in lighthouses. Despite what you may see on the newsor read about on the internet the life of a lighthouse keepers son isnot all Glamour and Parties. There's a lot of time when there reallyisn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made youdeaf. Watching your dad pull fishing lures out of various parts ofpeoples bodies can also provide for some amusement. (You'd be amazed!)
My guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. I can't seem to get enough of them!
The thing I like about them is the development of the protagonist. Whilethe world falls apart around them these flawed heroes stand tall. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to stay alive. I like seeing the different ways this shapes them for the good or thebad. These stories speak at a primal level. I enjoy the journeygreatly as I tag along seeing how they manage and whether it breaks them or forges them into something greater than they were. Please enjoy my newest series: Zombies!Book 1: A Small WorldBook 2: Against the CurrentBook 3: Violence Solves EverythingBook 4: Nowhere to HideBook 5: Greater Love Hath No ManBook 6: Hold the LineNeed more books to feed your Zombie obsession? About the authors
Dear Reader,
Thank you for taking the time out to read this. The author comes from a long line of story tellers and sailors. His father was career Coast Guard and while he himself was in the Navy. Mr. Merritt's Grandfather was a gunners mate who ended up shelling the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. His love of books began when his father was stationed as a lighthouse keeper in New England. Despite what you may see on the news and read about on the internet the life of a lighthouse keepers son isn't all glamour and parties. There's a lot of times when there really isn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made you deaf. You can also occasionally watch your dad pull fishing lures out of different parts of peoples bodies. (You'd be amazed!)
He read. He read a lot. There was a 'reading caterpillar' around the room at the school where every time a child read a book they put the child's name on a piece of colored paper and hung it up. The teacher had to give Mr. Merritt two colors because he was making the caterpillar solid blue. He devoured CS Lewis before moving on to Tolkien. Reading has continued to be a big part of his life. He's since moved into Alternative Realities by guys like Stirling and his guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. He can't seem to get enough of them!
The thing about them is the story you get to hear about the protagonist. In a world where humanity crumbles around them these flawed heroes have to stand up and try to make their way. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to stay alive. It's inspiring to see the different ways this molds them as people. The stories speak at a very primal level.
Pleas enjoy all of R S Merritt's books:

Zombies! Book 2 "Against the Current"
Zombies! Book 3 "Violence Solves Everything"
Zombies! Book 4 "Nowhere to Hide"
Zombies! Book 5 "Greater Love Hath No Man"

Living in a lighthouse as a child led me early to a love of reading. Despite what you may have been told the life of a lighthouse keeper's son is not all Glamour and Parties. There's a lot of time when there really isn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made you deaf or watch your dad pull fishing lures out of different parts of people bodies. (You'd be amazed!)
I read. I read a lot. We had a 'reading caterpillar' around the room at my school where every time you read a book you put your name on your color paper and hung it up. The teacher had to give me two colors because it was looking more like a worm than a caterpillar. I devoured CS Lewis before moving on to Tolkien. Reading has continued to be a big part of my life. I've moved into Alternative Realities by guys like Stirling and my guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. I can't seem to get enough of them!
I like reading about the extremes people will go to to survive. The ones who can rise above the rest and keep their sense of right and wrong. When humanity crumbles around them these flawed heroes stand tall and try to make their way. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to keep themselves and others alive. I like to see how this either hardens or breaks them. I think these stories speak at a very primal level. I enjoy the journey greatly as I get to tag along seeing how the survivors manage and how the experience forges them into something more than they were.
I look forward to sharing the journey with you all!

In a better world, RSM would get snapped up by a major publisher and
Netflix +HBO+Canal Plus and even the state of Georgia would put their paws in their pockets and remember a certain zompoc comic book drama that they gambled on.
This saga is that good and (big hint time), I love it that peeps are reading carefully. But. Top notch editing is expensive. RSM is an independent writer and I read for sense. I read what I expect to see. Way, way back in the day, I was taught to read German and Hebrew in the same way.
Oops - this is a weird review, but I read zompoc for to escape my disabled body that (thankfully) has left my intellect and SOH intact.
If you like Mark Tufo and TW Brown's Dead series, you should like this.
Another reviewer compared this to Lee Child - for speed, pace and heartpounding action, I'd agree. But, RSM doesn't do the hook-ups which LC includes. For which I'm grateful.
Now, back to Zombies!
