Is there a window or gauge that shows how much coffee is left in the 'pot'? How do you know, without opening the top and actually looking inside?

Yes, easy to read, on both sides of the appliance. It is marked from 12 cups, every 2 cups, down to 2 cups. I find that the 2 cup mark is only about 10 or 12 oz. The gauges are estimates. I tend to drain the last drop, open the top and pour whatever is left (1/2 cup?) into my waiting cup.

There are 2 windows, 1 on either side of the Brewstation, that show the contents from 12 to just below 2 cups. I love my Brewstation & it's everything they claim it to be. Good luck.

Yes it has a window port on the brewstation ,but if you are near to 2 cup mark , your last cup of coffee will not be warm.
