The 100 w equivalent bulbs that I purchased are very bright with a soft color light. I would think they would be excellent for your needs.

Wife likes the 100 watt daylight. Really lights things up.

Definitely a very bright and white light. If you have a three way light that might even work better.

You will find these brighter than a typical incandescent bulb. The 5000K is very bright, some might consider harsh. The 3000K is supposed to be daylight.

My eyesight isn't great either, these bulbs are very bright, I love them. A little more expensive but worth it to me. I ordered a 2nd box to have on hand. Lowe's near me doesn't carry anything similar anymore.
