Yes it can. Many of my customers are high school / college students. They mainly use it for calculus and statistics all throughout their school career.

It has neither, although a QWERTY keyboard can be purchased. I believe it is called the TI-keyboard.

I don't know if it came with batteries or not but it does use regular batteries--AA I think. They last a long time though.
