Answer:
I mounted on my desk with 2-1/4" edge/lip and it's sturdy when snug with two 7-lb 22" LED (Viewsonic VX2250wm) monitors. Not ideal, but ok for sure. I'd advise 2-1/2 inches minimum if mounting two heavier monitors as it will give more clamp surface area.

I'm confused by "Taylor W." answer. 28.94 inches from mount to mount, and 17.72 inches from center of pole to bracket? Wouldn't the second measurement just be half the first measurement? The video actually says 29" bracket to bracket, and 14.5" (half) pole to bracket.

So, I worked the formula. Let's say that the length (L) from the center of the pole is 14.5. Measure the width of your monitors (W). The extension distance (D) is approximately (will be less due to the joints not bending all the way flat):
D = sqrt (L^2 - W/2^2) "sqrt" is the square root of the whole thing. Now, more simplified:
D = sqrt (14.5^2 - W/2^2)
D = sqrt (210.25 - W/2^2) So, if your monitor width is 20", then:
D = sqrt (210.25 - 20/2^2)
D = sqrt (210.25 - 10^2)
D = sqrt (210.25 - 100)
D = sqrt (110.25)
D = ~10.5 inches !!! This is with the monitors being flat. If you angle the monitors so that the kind of face each other more, you will be able to extended them more toward you a little more.
If you have different size monitors, just average the two values. However, it will be less, because one of the arms will have to be bent a little to compensate making to make the flush. see less

If the problem is not either of those, try removing the metal washer from between the two halves so the bolt is able to tighten further.

Answer:
The description states "mounting brackets are exactly 29" on center (apart)". You can be certain by taking the overall width of each of your 29" & 24" displays (not screen width, but frame width) divide each width by 2 and then adding them together. If this distance is less than 29" then they will fit.

Answer:
If your monitors don't have mounting holes in back, you will need a VESA adapter kit for each one. We make a universal kit that may work for your monitors: https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Adapter-Monitor-mounting-STAND-VAD1B/dp/B01HBWKXZG

Answer:
The clamp plate has a width of 3-1/8", so it may fit. We would recommend using the included grommet mount option though, since it is designed to fit cable holes like this.
Thank you!

Answer:
I am using one of these on a VariDesk at work. Has been working great for a few months now! I did have to use the through hole mount though, the clamp was just a little to deep for the desk to go to its down position. That was on the 36" corner desk.
