It does easily transfer from tile to carpet if the carpet is not thick. The only problem my nephew has encountered is it does not go well in the grass. My sister has hard wood floors with throw rugs, and it transfers easily, however she has a push carpet in the bedrooms and it does not work well on that.

Yes the remote needs 2 AA batteries and the car uses 3 AA batteries. I wasn't sure so I opened it up to look.

I know this is an older question, but our 18 month old figured out the remote & car within a week. I think this toy is absolutely appropriate & fun for 18 months & up.

They all run on 27mHz and if they are near each other, they will all respond to whichever remote is being pressed at the time. We bought three and were only able to change the frequency on one (the police car). Yes but the language is 100% Chinese. That box was in the shipping box that is also 100% written in Chinese.
