Answer:
It comes all apart and you can wash all the pieces. The filter is replaceable. I even out the part that goes into the nose and holds the snot into my plug-in bottle sanitizer after washing

If your issue is getting boogers in your mouth, it hasn't happened to me nor my daughters when using it with my granddaughter BUT even if it had, as long as the baby can breathe, we don't care. The tube is long enough where the chance of it happening is minimal. When my daughters were babies, this didn't exist. All I had was that hard rubber green syringe that I hate. It was painful for them; who knows what could've been growing in there (you can't see if anything's left after cleaning); and getting good placement with a screaming squirming baby was darn near impossible. I'd eventually have to blow into their mouth to force mucus from their noses and ended up with snot and boogers on my face anyway. Someone was genius enough to create this device and I'm grateful. Try it. You won't regret it. see less I don't think so because you won't get proper suction. If your fear is hygiene, clean and sanitize it as you would anything else. The NoseFrida is top rack dishwasher safe, except the clear Nose hose. You may clean this with a few drops of alcohol (:

Answer:
It fits snug, but not very tightly. You should still be able to twist the tube around. It doesn't need to be sealed. There is still enough suction.

Answer:
I used it right out of the box. It is definitely not sterile, but it goes near a nose so it does not need to be. After using it, I was the big end with soap and water and for the tube part I use a couple drop of alcohol. I would definitely say do not get water in the tube, it will probably mold.
