I turned the bag inside out and filled it with water. The 100% nylon material held back the water with only the slightest bit of beading most likely due to the pressure. Where the water really came through was from the zipper and seams.

Heavy rain? Your stuff inside will get at least damp if not completely wet. Light rain, be it continuous or intermittent? Your stuff will be dry unless it is up against the zipper.

Most definitely. It's like a parachute like material. We used them to bike around Key West. We washed them when we came back.

The "L" stands for "Liters". So when you see a 25L backpack, that means the capacity of the main pouch is 25 liters. I bought it in blue about 6 months ago. I did a quick search and saw it posted in black as well. Look under “amazon daypack” it should come up. Hope that helps.
