I wouldn't place pomegranates in the juicer, I would peel and place in the blender to get all the juice. Hope this helps.

I use it to clean the blades. I cannot imagine doing it any other way safely.

Not sure where made but it is made primarily of plastics. Mine only lasted 4 months. Was not good for making “green” drink with kale, etc. returned mine got a Breville Juice fountain-cold XL from Amazon love it— it is stainless and much better at extracting juice. More expensive but well worth it.
