I've had the exact same issue. Pen had a crack just above the grip; the pen doesn't stay together. Have to keep finding the pieces after it goes flying everywhere. I've bought refills already but I won't be buying anymore after I'm done with the refills.

The ones I received (May 2020) were made in Mexico. Definitely cheaply made - even the box was falling apart when I received them. One barrel was already cracked. There are 3 options of tip size on the one page- .5mm .7mm and 1mm.

The ink is waterproof and you can use a highlighter - just make sure the ink is dry before highlighting.

Yes, our current stock are Made in Japan and there is a plastic piece on the tip of the pen.

Have you checked the Amazon site thoroughly? I bought these in a red/blue/green/ black/ purple/ teal package last year. I have also seen them in stores where you buy office supplies.

The ink does NOT actually bleed through the page; however, if the paper is thin enough you can see it. I hope this helps! This is the best gel pen I have ever used. I like it so much I have the red, purple and blue Energel pens! Thanks!
