This product is very under powered. You need a more powerful converter with its own power source to boost the signal to the tv.

Not sure however a lot of things that are compatible with the big Wii system are not with the mini Wii

It did not come with a cord. It plugs into the back of the Wii and an HDMI cord connects from it to the TV.

Connect an AUX (headphone jack to headphone jack) from the wii adapter to the jack on the tv. see less

I'm not sure if you have a bad unit or not. I hooked up mine which is connected through my stereo system and it worked perfectly.
