No, Dot 3rd Gen needs to be charged for continuously using. But recently i have bought a battery dock for my dot 3rd so i'm free to use it in my courtyard or garden without cable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SFVDSKZ

I have six Echo s peakers (four are Dots) and its as easy as saying “alexa, announce: “Dinner is ready”” and all devices in the house will repeat your message. That is the basic way. Of course, they all have to be on the same wi-fi network, but most people only have one in their homes anyway so......

You have to select a music provider in your Alexa app. If you don't select one, it defaults to Amazon Music, and if you are not a Prime member, you won't hear anything.

Although, you can connect it to your cell phone... I do not believe it is necessary. You do need Internet and an Amazon account. I hope this helps.

For data, WiFi only. Bluetooth is used for audio streaming and connecting to some accessories.
