The zte is a low budget phone with a battery life problem. You will have to check to see if the phone is hdmi/mhl compatable to use this cable

The USB-C on the Nintendo Switch will only allow charging. According to my research, it will not send video to a device via the HDMI. I tried it on my grandson's and it wouldn't work. I purchased it to connect a Samsung phone to a projector, which worked perfectly.

You are using your phone to transmit data(video, pictures) to the TV screen and the cpu in your phone is working overdrive so it will heat your phone as well as the cord. My cord gets warm after I use it mainly because I use it to play a workout video for my kids classes.
