Probably not. The machine has the capability, but I believe that Disney uses a proprietary copy-protect that will not allow you to convert the VHS to DVD.

If you hook up the cable box to VHS/DVD recorder with a A/V line and select line input it should work. Also if you hook the cable tv line to directly to the VHS/DVD recorder it would get only the non scrambled channels even local.

Not the original instructions. The refurbisher sends some do and don't instructions for type of disk and power strips to use.
