If you have the *new*3ds, then it will have the amiibo reader built in. If it's an older model, you'll need to purchase the NFC reader separately to use amiibos.

Works the same way as the Samus’ amiibo does but gives you a different character, Dark Samus, instead. Amiibo act as customizable computer players in any multiplayer mode in smash that can be leveled up and enhanced by playing with / against them.

Currently it’s just used in Smash brothers ultimate so you can train dark Samus. I would get this Amiibo now, before it sells out, because chances are it will be used in future Metroid games.
