Are there any products I can't buy using Shop with Points?

Shop with Points is generally available to buy millions of products on Amazon.com. Please note, however, that rewards points cannot be used for all purchases on Amazon.com, and items that currently may not be purchased using Shop with Points include some digital goods, Kindle downloads, Subscribe and Save items, or AmazonFresh. Please also note that currently you may not use one-click to purchase products using Shop with Points.

How do I use Membership Rewards points at Amazon.com?

When you save your Membership Rewards eligible Card to your Amazon.com account, American Express will share your points balance with Amazon to display it to you, so you can choose whether or not to use points. If you’ve saved a Card to your account, you will see your points balance each time you check out. Can I use Membership Rewards points to cover the charge for my Prime subscription?

Yes. When you charge your purchase or renewal of your Prime subscription to your Membership Rewards-enrolled American Express Card, you can choose to use Membership Rewards points to cover the charge. Points will be debited from your program account towards the total amount of the Prime subscription, and will be subsequently debited towards the total amount of the renewal if your subscription is set for auto-renewal. In the event your Membership Rewards points balance is not enough to cover the charge for the total amount of the subscription, American Express will separately charge the portion of your subscription that you did not cover with points to your American Express Card account and you will receive a statement credit only for the amount of the points used. You can choose to select a different payment method to pay for the subscription at any time on the link below. In the event you are using a Prime trial subscription, you can still choose to use your Membership Rewards-enrolled American Express Card as the payment preference so that you can use points to cover the charge for your subscription after your trial period ends.

What if I no longer want to use Membership Rewards points to Shop with Points at Amazon?

If you no longer want to use Membership Rewards points to Shop with Points at Amazon, you can unlink your Card by opting out of enrollment option. You will still be able to use your American Express Card for transactions on Amazon.com.

I am the primary Card Member and would like to remove the rights of other Card Members to Shop with Points. How do I do that?

Please contact your rewards program provider to discuss your Card status and rights of other Card Members to use rewards program points.

Why can I no longer see available points in check out?

If you do not see your rewards program account, you may contact your rewards program provider to discuss your account status.

Why is my American Express Card not eligible for Shop with Points?

Only US issued American Express Cards that are eligible to participate in the Membership Rewards program are able to use Shop with Points. Participation in the Membership Rewards program is only available to select American Express Card products issued by American Express.

I have more than one American Express Card. Why is only one eligible?

Only Cards enrolled in the Membership Rewards program are eligible to use Shop with Points. For the details of your specific Cards, please contact American Express by calling the phone number on the back of your Card.

Why don't I see the available Membership Rewards points on the payments page?

If you have a Membership Rewards points balance that is less than 2 points, have not added a Membership Rewards eligible American Express Card to your Amazon account, or have not used a Membership Rewards eligible Card to make a purchase at Amazon before, you may not see available points on the payments page. If there is an error in displaying your Membership Rewards account point balance, please contact American Express by calling the phone number on the back of your Card.

Is there a fee for using Membership Rewards points for my Amazon.com purchase on the amazon.com site?

No. There is no fee for using Membership Rewards points on Amazon.com.

I have enough rewards points for my order. Why do I have to specify the Credit or Charge Card linked to my rewards program account in my order?

Orders for which you use rewards points must also include the Credit or Charge Card associated to the rewards account from which the rewards points are applied. When you use points for your entire Amazon purchase, American Express will charge your purchase to your Card account and deduct the points you used from your program account, and you will see a corresponding statement credit for the points you used.

I don't have enough rewards points for my order. How can I pay for the rest of my order?

You may use the Credit or Charge Card from which the rewards points are applied or use Amazon.com gift cards or Amazon Payments Stored Value to pay for the rest of your order.

May I apply promotional coupons to orders in which I use Shop with Points to pay?

Yes, you may apply any eligible promotional coupons to orders paid using rewards points.

Can I use points toward my Amazon.com purchase over the phone?

No. You can only use points towards purchases online at Amazon.com.

Can I combine points from multiple reward programs for my order?

Rewards from multiple reward programs cannot currently be aggregated for a single order. You may register multiple rewards programs on Amazon; however, rewards purchases will be paired with the Card associated with the rewards program. Rewards may also be combined with an Amazon.com gift cards.

I have a gift card or stored value available in my Amazon account. How will this be applied with rewards points?

Amazon applies the rewards points that you requested to use and that your rewards provider approved for use, then the gift card or stored value amount, and then any remaining balance to the Credit or Charge Card linked to your registered rewards account.

I can't find rewards points to use. What do I do?

We'll never apply rewards points without your permission. To use rewards points for your order when checking out on Amazon, click the "Change" button in the payment method box located below the order summary. When Rewards Points are applied to your order total, you'll see them before you place your order. If you don't see Rewards points, click the "Change" button in the Payment Method box. When you choose how you'd like to pay, you'll be able to apply available Rewards points to your order.

What if I cancel my purchase after using points?

If you cancel your purchase and had used points toward that purchase, Amazon will refund the corresponding dollar amount of the purchase to the American Express Card you used. Please allow 2 to 4 business days for the refund to post to your online statement. If you’d like to have the Membership Rewards points returned to your account instead, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

To use points, your Card account must be enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program and be active and in good standing. Your Membership Rewards program account will be linked to your Amazon.com account. Information about your program account may be provided by American Express to Amazon.

When you use points for your entire Amazon purchase, American Express will charge your purchase to your Card account and deduct the points you used from your program account, and you will see a corresponding statement credit for the points you used. If you elect to use points for only a portion of your purchase, American Express will separately charge the portion of your purchase that you did not cover with points to your Card account after the purchase ships. For example, if you make a $500 Amazon purchase and elect to cover $300 of that purchase with points, American Express will: •Charge your Card account $300, •Apply a $300 credit to your Card account, and •After your purchase ships, charge your Card account $200.

You may also use Membership Rewards® points to cover the charge for the purchase or renewal of your Amazon Prime subscription. Points will be debited from your program account towards the total amount of the Prime subscription, and will be subsequently debited towards the total amount of the renewal if your subscription is set for auto-renewal.
