About the Author

Nacida en Hungría, Edith Eger era una adolescente cuando en 1944 padeció uno de los peores horrores que ha visto la historia de la humanidad. Sobrevivió a Auschwitz y huyó a Checoslovaquia para acabar finalmente en Estados Unidos. Allí se doctoró en Psicología y conoció a su mentor, Viktor Frankl, quien le mostró la necesidad de superar su trauma para alcanzar la felicidad. Es profesora en la Universidad de California y tiene su propia clínica en La Jolla, California. Fue la encargada de dar el discurso de homenaje a Viktor Frankl en su noventa aniversario, durante la celebración de la Conferencia Internacional de Logopedia. Entrega a tiempo y muy buenas condiciones. Y el libro pues hermoso, me gustó mucho.

No estaba segura de leerlo porque todas las historias o películas de este tema siempre me dejan el corazón apachurrado y una sensación enorme de tristeza e impotencia.

Pero muchas personas me insistieron en que lo comenzara a leer y estoy encantada porque fue mucho más de lo que esperaba.

Edith en su libro nos cuenta sobre su proceso de liberación, más allá de los campos de concentración.
La mayoría de los libros del holocausto hablan de lo que sufrieron los judíos durante el campo de concentración; pero este libro, nos muestra todo lo que los sobrevivientes sufrieron después; sus procesos de adaptación, de los cuales casi nadie habla.

Admiro mucho la manera en que ella pudo ser tan valiente de escribir sobre una etapa dolorosa de su vida y decidir vivir para ayudar a los demás.

Definitivamente se ha convertido en uno de mis libros favoritos. Pensé que solo iba a leer sobre la historia de una persona, pero esta lectura terminó ayudándome a aceptar y dejar atrás cosas dolorosas de mi pasado.
