BETWEEN DEAD TREES by Matt Shaw functions as a stand-alone, but readers will appreciate the characters and events more if they read INTO THE WOODS first.

I love the way the author divided up the story...increased the suspense tenfold. Once again, Shaw takes the time to give readers a reason to care about the characters before he yeets them off into hell.

I hope there's a third one because I'd really like to know the name of the entity.

This just did not work for me the way some other of Matt’s books do. First of all, I hated Stephen and his family. They just seemed like pompous twits. Secondly, the whole part about the night terrors just did not groove with the rest of the story. If some sort of relationship/twist had been made between Stephen’s nightmares and what was going on in the country, I might have felt differently. This just felt like two ideas that were incorporated without a link. If anything, it was more an advert for Matt’s other extreme series. You can whip right through it because it is short, but I would not recommend this to anyone other than Matt’s rapid fan base (lol).

I totally loved Sick Bastards... So any story with those Easter eggs is aces in my book. I really hope this is a story that Shaw builds a whole other universe around. This story is great, and has potential to become so much more

I always enjoy Matt Shaw's book, and this I did enjoy. I just didn't like the ending. I turned the page expecting to continue with the story, to find it was the end. Only I didn't feel as though it ended. I felt confused and as though the last few pages were missing. Half the charm I know with Matt Shaw books is the unpredictable endings, and I have read a lot of of his books. This is the first one I felt confused about at the end. Maybe confused is the wrong word I'm using. But it's the one that comes to mind as I've just finished it. The rest of the book, well amazing, characters and story is great. And as always grabs your attention from the first page. Maybe it was just me, so i still recommend as it was still a good read. Just ending oddly for me personally. Therefore I dropped a star. Sorry Matt Shaw!
