this was perfect for my sewing and crafting needs and at a fraction of the cost at the large retailers.
Thanks for your questions. We could NOT recommend to do this like paints etc. This self-healing mat is ideal for craft sewing and quilting projects, it can protect your table top from sharp blades.
Oh my goodness I wish I had ordered this a long time ago!!! The price on this is so beyond reasonable compared to anywhere else!!! Have the ability to measure and cut on my table without worrying about damage is so nice and makes what was tedious quite quick!
I have never seen bags for the mats but I sew so made my own.
I use my mat very frequently and so far I've had my first one well over a year with no problems....love the 2 sided feature for different colors of fabric and it has been so good I bought a 2nd one for my other table in my sewing room.
Hi CSM: The only other cutting mat I have is a medium size Olfa Rotary Mat. The 24 x 36" Fiskars mat is the same thickness of my Olfa if that is any help. I have not had any other experience with the Fiskar mats prior to this purchase. I see that Fiskars Brands, Inc. is located in Madison, WI (my home state) and their phone # is 1-866-348-5661 for any other questions you may have. Good luck & happy cutting & sewing.
It has never slid on me. I've used it on a makeshift desk made out of wood and on a shiny glazed coated surface, both times the mat never slipped. If perhaps another type does you can place a cloth under it to prevent the mat from sliding. (This occurs with cutting mats in the kitchen placing the towel or rag prevents the slipping). In sewing though, the concern will be in the mat staying flat to cut accurately.
I like and use Gingher.
The Calibre Art Mat, in my opinion are the best on the market. I have been sewing/quilting/crafting over forty years and have had a lot of cutting mats during that time. These excel above them all. These mats are thicker, and I would not worry about cutting curves, they self heal so nicely. I went to great lengths to have them shipped to Canada, purchased two of the larger sizes. I keep them upright in the original flat box and have never had an issue with warping, they just relax out when put on my craft table, sun exposure through a window has spoiled a couple other mats in the pas t Tip, always keep a sharp rotary cutter blade and it definitely will prolong the life of your mat.
This was one of my smartest purchases ever! This mat is great. First off it has no smell, next it never looks as if you have cut anything because of the healing qualities. And third, it has made it so much easier to measure material and cut straight lines. It also works great for cutting wrapping paper.
I really don't know since I used it for sewing and crafting purposes, but if you contact they are really great at responding to costumers.... Good Luck
I have mine flat on my cutting table in my sewing room. It is always there because I use it almost every day. I love it. Best way to find out if you can make holes in it is to contact the seller himself. He was very helpful when I had a question. Email the seller thru Amazon. Best cutting mat I ever own, and I own several over the years, totally odorless. Good luck.
This is a wonderful cutting mat with more features than most. The size is right for cutting larger pieces of fabric. The numbers are easy to read and the lines clear. Additionally, it has more printed angles (30, 45, and 60 degrees as well as 1 and 2 inch wide bias lines) than most mats. The mat is reversible and identical on both sides.…
No it does not fold up. It is a good size to have next to the sewing machine or small projects.
