4.5 in. I absolutely love this. It takes up minimal room on my counter. My Cutco knives love it. Their blocks were very expensive and didn’t have slots for all my knives.
Probably, but maybe not if it’s curved. If it’s strait like kitchen shears has a long flat surface it should. I stuck my kitchen shears on fine. I have a long handled bread knife that slides almost sideways if it’s not perfectly vertical. I really like it because I can add a lot more knives than my old wooden block could. I have this magnetic one loaded! I have a very small kitchen and it’s half under my counter and half out in order to accommodate the longer handled and long bladed bread knife. I just stuck a large serving spoon on and it sticks but my super cheap serving fork didn’t. Assuming your carving fork has enough flat service it might. Good luck! I have cheap and expensive knifes stuck just fine.
No....i found that to be the bonus!! It holds 8 steak knives on top and can fit 8 larger kitchen knives along the bottom that you would normally find sitting in a butcher block ontop of the counter.
