…After a kitchen remodel that included a very expensive back splash, I tried a holder that would sit in a drawer.…Opening the drawer with dirty hands, and finding that food sometimes made it's way into the drawer left me looking for a better solution.…
There are some wooden cross pieces that the knives hit before the drawer. Keeps air circulating as well as protecting the knives and drawers.
It is EXACTLY 5 6/16" inches in width. (I love it; it's well made and a great in-drawer knife block.)
We have no blade sheaths that would fit in the holders slots. Seems as though others claim theirs do though. All we know is it's a very nice fixture for your knives in a drawer.
Yes, 5 slots, 5 of the longer knives, with a layer of shorter knives in the slots above the longer ones. Steak knives length fit nicely there. If a blade is narrow, I've been able to place 3 knives to the long slot. Since I have a lot of knives, I bought two of these and have them side-by-side in the drawer.
