"There's parts of her that were completely untouched until my dirty hands pulled her in, marking her in all the ways she needed."
Desperate to find a new mechanic, the last thing Reddington expects is a woman to show up, let alone one with a sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to just do her job and not give him lip. He can't deny he's hoping to catch a view of her bent over a hood, but there's not a chance in hell that's going to happen. As much as Red wants to take her for a test drive, he knows he needs to keep his priorities straight.
"Have you heard of Newton's third law of motion? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction? It all goes back to one saying. You're able to choose but you're never free from the consequences of your actions. There's no reset, there's no takeback, there's an action, and an outcome."
After fleeing from an abusive ex, Lennon hopes the garage bays of Walker Automotive will keep her dark secrets hidden from her past. What she doesn't expect is a sexy, brooding, tattooed boss with an attitude. Neither of them can ignore their attraction as they struggle to make sense of their connection. And what happens next will no doubt be unsteady.
"I'm not going to let him hurt you anymore, Lenny. I won't let him anywhere near you."

But a big plus was of the book was Nova, I felt like she added to the, and wasn't just there as a plotpoint, which can happen sometimes with single parent book. And I'm also curious about the sister and cousin's relationship, but I'm not sure if the writing style here turned me off too much to want to pick up their book.
From start to finish, I was brought into this book. I couldn't put this book down. The story unfolds at the perfect place and grips you from start to finish. Let's not forget to add the supporting characters drive this book forward with an extra launch. Leaves you begging for more books in this series.
Lennon (Lenny) is a badass, a mechanic with a past that is horrible from the beginning of her life. While trying to escape her past she finds herself in Lebenon and working for Walker Automotive. This could be her new start and a new boss man, who might be easy on the eyes. Lenny is running from an abusive relationship but don't worry this heroine don't not dwell on past or the life she was dealt. She is brave, strong and a pretty kick ass leading female.
Red Walker..Whoooo ladies..Talk about a heart throb here he is. Just from the words Shey uses to help you Invision him, hot damn! Quick tempered, sexy, strong, witty, single dad is just the beginning. Throw in hard working, caring family man and all I can say is I want some! After wife passing away he is left to raise a 2 year old, sassy little lady who you will fall in love with, within her opening line. Getting Nova in this package deal is a BONUS. Easily my favorite character ;) Red is in for a huge surprise when he thinks he hiring a new mechanic, Lenny, male?? Instead he gets a woman who rubs him in all the right and wrong ways. Red doesn't come with an unmarked history and watching him grow is an endearing feat.
I am a huge Shey fan but falling upon this book was an extra treat. I follow Shey but didn't get a chance to read the book right away. But when I did I couldn't put it down. Now I find myself waiting for the next books in the series. Red has made my book BF list really quickly. This book is full of something for everyone, comedy, heart break, witty lines, love, family, strong relationships and a funny little lady that pulls your heat strings in all the right way.
I liked everyone in the story but Red and Lennon (and of course, Ben). I enjoyed Lennon more than Red. She was real and she was flawed, both attributes that can help when trying to connect with a character.
Red didn't make sense. For a man who has suffered some major losses in a short period of time he has absolutely no compassion or understanding for those around him. (Spoilers) Just because he lost a wife and father doesn't give him a pass to be a jerk. Hot or not, men with seriously bad attitudes are not appealing. It would have made total and complete sense for Red to be a nice guy considering what he'd been through. Nice guys are hot too!
Now for the nit-picky stuff. I know that using "an" before a word that begins with "h" can be considered proper. But the first sentence of the book, especially if read aloud, just sounds unnatural and weird. "An hysterical cry...."
I also found it off-putting that Nova (great name for the little girl, especially considering how she was conceived) went from speaking like a very young baby to a very mature (I would even say much too mature and unrealistic) little girl in a short period of time. I can overlook this though. In general I don't enjoy books that include children, but considering that Nova spoke much like an adult it was more palatable for me.
For a book that started off so sad (for both Red, his daughter, and Lennon though in separate situations), you would think that there would be more humor to balance it out. There were some laughs for sure, but mostly from the supporting characters.
There's no reason to point out what happens between Red and Lennon's ex. It all seemed very anti-climactic and just a bit forced, plus the fact that Nova had to go through two absolutely horrible experiences at such a young age is just hard to take.
Overall it was an okay read but not a favorite and not one I'd read again. I would like to see what happens with Raven and Tyler as well as some of the other crew. The automotive knowledge seemed to be correct, though there is no way to know for sure since I don't know much about cars.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I absolutely loved it
Can’t wait to read book 2
