Ooh, and there’s a map in this boxed set! I hate when authors go to different locations, then weave them all together and you have to alter the maps you’ve carefully drawn in your mind. Love a good map.
Also, the books, while connected and deeply entwined with one another, can also be read as standalone novels. Though they are better together.
The binding and box were nicely done, along with the paper and printing quality. The book sizes proved well designed too. A good, convenient value for all four volumes of Lois Lowry's works. However, these books were made to be read rather than collected.
Definitely no disappointments here!
The first book is about Jonas.
The second book about someone else different. Kira.
The third book still about Kira. But hints about Jonas . (Dun dun dunnnnn)
The fourth book ties all the books together.
They were all well written and interesting.
My daughter read the first one in school,, but now she is reading the other 3 books on her own, what more can a parent ask for.?
The boxed set was in good shape and packaged well. Delivery was as stated and timely. The series is about a dystopian future in which war has ravaged society and brought down governments. This leaves city-states to govern as they see fit. But in four villages, four stories having a strong connection to the first one tells the tale of right and wrong and morals in life post-apocalypse in the US. Of course, these tales could be set anywhere in the world. These books-or at least the first in the series-is required reading in middle school. I’d recommend this set to anyone. It differs greatly from the beautiful film with Jeff Bridges that came out some years ago. Enjoy!

The favorite for all of them is The Giver - I like to think they can also give encouragement to everyone of their classmates - what a great life lesson.
