Awesome read

I was travelling from Georgia to Philadelphia a few years ago. I was in the middle seat between my partner and a lady who was in the window seat. I was reading fifty shades on my tablet. The lady politely told me to delete the crap and she introduced me to the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I have the entire collection so far and have read all of them. I pre-order the next book as soon as it is available and usually read it in a day or so. It is one of the best written works I have seen in novels. Thank you J. R. W. Keep them coming. Adding new characters makes the read more intriguing!

A little vampire fun

After reading the first book in the series, I thought about the other books and decided this was the better value than individually buying each book. Also, I found myself wanting to know more about the other 'brothers' that I was introduced to in the first book.

I love the world that J.R.Ward creates with her vampires, similar to ours, but by the third book, I felt as if something was missing. I'm not sure I like the candy-coated vampire that doesn't hunt humans. It takes out the scare factor that I love. I like not knowing if the vampire is going to kill her or make her his. However, I think that a lot of vampire romance books nowadays are going this way unfortunately, so I'll deal with it.

J.R.Ward does a great job with the pacing of the stories, making it very hard for me to put down the book I'm on. Her action scenes are great and her romance scenes are incredible, and it never really felt trashy as some romance novels I have read.

The reason why I gave it only 4 out of 5 stars is because I'm not entirely sure if something that has lived 300 years would love rap so heavily or talk the way they do. I suppose some would love the low frequencies of the music, I do enjoy a few songs myself, and many more when I was younger, but all of them? (I guess maybe if you lived over 300 years, you'd get sick of hearing classical over and over again?) And the way they talk annoyed me at some points, with their slang, but again, I suppose if you were a secret being you'd have to hide among people so you'd learn the slang also, its just no one uses the slang they do >.< I also hated their names, if you are going to be called something like Fury, don't spell it Phury. That was easily overlooked though because J.R.Ward used only the first initial most of the time, Zsadist was 'Z' and Vishous was 'V' a lot of the time so that didn't weight on me as much.

I did like the series, probably will buy the others in the future. They are fun reads and if you don't take it too seriously very enjoyable and easy reads (I can read one book in two days). I liked how she created endless antagonists and pretty much (as we saw with John Matthew) endless 'brothers' showing up one day with their birthmark so there will always be a story to write. A good series to get into with a promise of more to come.

I purchased the first six Black Dagger Brotherhood books on a recommendation from Amazon. I read Charlaine Harris, Patrica Briggs, Richelle Mead, Karen Chance, and many other authors. I did enjoy the books. They are more erotic than I am used to, but I enjoyed the world that JR Ward created. I was not looking for vampire romance novels. The books don't read like a romance. There is some serious sex scenes in the books, but it is well written and and I enjoyed it. JR Ward seems to have been able to write romance/erotica with a good story. She created a vampire society that is complex, and well thought through. The character development is excellent. There is a lot of action, violence and fighting for the race's survival. Yet you know how the characters feel, their strengths and weaknesses, their love and loss. Ward created an entire society including a language. Some of the language is used in the book but you learn it quickly and there is a glossary of terms. She brings in religion, culture, classes, and explains everything very well. The vampires are not like the standard vamps in so many books now. The vampire's abilities, strengths and weaknesses are not the norm, so it was good reading, something new. And it all fit in the world Ward created.
Honestly, the only thing that bothered me with the writing was the acronyms and slang. The acronyms are in all books and I found that it disrupted my flow of reading. I had to stop at the acronym and try to figure out what it meant. After the first book I just started skipping them so I could keep my flow of reading going. It did irritate me, and that is why I rated the books four stars instead of five. I expected the acronyms in the cell phone texts, but not in their speech. And the slang, it did not fit the characters. I could accept it in the younger characters, but not in a two or three hundred year old vampire. Other than that I did enjoy the books and will continue to read them in paperback. I would recommend the books to a friend. I would also say that these books are very detailed in the sex scenes and should only be read by an adult. These books are not appropriate for youth.

Being new to the BDB books i was hoping they caught my attention.. Boy did they just, i was so engrosed in them, the characters are amazing, you just want to know every last thing about them all and the pace of the books are like a freight train running out of control..
I love the way everyone is intertwined with everything thats going on.. i can not turn the pages fast enough.. There are so many surprises along the way too (I dont want to give any spoilers as hopefully you will enjoy them as much as me)
I would highly recommend these books to all vampire/fiction lovers.. they just have a different feel to them, very different from other vampire stories..

I am hooked to JR Ward books at the moment. The characters she creates in this series are fabulous. Unfortunately I got Lover Revealed from the Library before I read the others so I started in the middle but loved it so much I had to read all the others so bought this set. I recommend you start at the beginning as the characters strengthen through the series and you will be hungry for more although each book stands on its own. This set is also great value for money as you will want to keep them and read the books over and over. This is proper vampire fiction for adults - well recommended.

One as their part of being a vampire and two their trial and tribuals of being in love, yes there is a bit of lust in them but this adds to the ambuance of the story. Couldnt put the book down once I started reading them
I am now looking forward to reading the rest.

This is a great collection of books, it has taken me two weeks to read the first two, i am addicted! I have learn't about two of the Black Dagger Brothers, so far Rhage is my favourite charater and i love the heart-stopping twist at the end. If you like vampire/fantasy novels then you are in for a treat as each novel is packed full of action/romance. If could sum it up in one word i would choose captivating. It's like Twight but with more spice.
