Joel is a writer, librarian, ex-teacher and part-time human from the UK. He is constantly planning stories, novels and screenplays, a very small number of which actually get written. His genres of choice are horror and sci-fi, although the odd bit of sentiment does manage to sneak in between the freakishness and disturbing twists.
To date, Joel's stories have found their way into anthologies such as the Multispecies Cities (World Weaver Press), With Blood and Ash (Eerie River Publishing), and the Dark Drabbles series (Black Hare press), as well as featured on sites including EveryDayFiction.com, RuneBear.com and CreepyPasta.com.
Evan Baughfman works in a very scary place: a middle school! (He’s a teacher.) He writes all genres, but horror is where he’s most comfortable. His horror fiction has been published in numerous anthologies, including titles from Improbable Press, 4 Horsemen Publications, No Bad Books Press, and Grinning Skull Press. Evan has penned a collection of 13 short scary stories titled THE EMACIATED MAN AND OTHER TERRIFYING TALES FROM POE MIDDLE SCHOOL, published by Thurston Howl Publications. His spooky novella, VANISHING OF THE 7TH GRADE, is now available from D&T Publishing. D&T has also published Evan's first full-length novel, BAD FOR YOUR TEETH.
Evan has also adapted a number of his short prose works into screenplays, of which "The Tell-Tale Art," “A Perfect Circle,” and “The Creaky Door” have won awards in various film festival competitions.
Additionally, much of Evan's writing success has been as a playwright. He’s had many different plays produced across the globe. His children's play, “R.O.M.3.O. and Julia” (Romeo and Juliet with robots) has been published in PLAYS Magazine. His play for young adults, “Lipstick and Heroics,” is available through YouthPLAYS, as is Evan's all-ages script, "Sprout Wants Out". In addition, his middle grade play, "Percy Pangolin Wants to Go Viral," is published by Heuer Publishing. Heuer has also published Evan's play, "A Taste of Amontillado"(an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado") and his script, "Untragically Ever After". Next Stage Press has published Evan's horror-plays-for teens, "Fear Pressure" and "The Dodo Challenge".
Online theater education resource, Drama Notebook, has added many of Evan’s children’s plays to its catalog. His plays can also be found at New Play Exchange.
When I was still a child and picked up my very first Goosebumps book by R. L. Stine, I knew I'd fallen head over heels in love with all things horror. It's a love affair that has only grown stronger over the years, a borderline obsession with stories that explore the darkest recesses of the human imagination. I guess you could say I'm like Thorny Rose in that way...always stalking down those special stories that have the ability to invoke a creepy-crawly feeling right down in the marrow of my bones.
As I grew older I discovered the work of some of my biggest inspirations like Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker...and the work of those authors sent me deeper down the path of the macabre. During my teenage years I had the little tradition of reading Stephen King's The Stand each summer to lose myself in the devastation of the superflu and marvel at the sadistic magnetism of Randall Flagg.
I've devoured horror fiction for as long as I can remember and reading the words weaved by the greats of the genre inspired me to begin writing. I wanted the opportunity to tell my own tales with the intent to terrify, to disturb; to capture the morbid curiosity of the reader just as my own was caught so early on in life.
If I've managed to inspire some of those feelings in you, my readers, then I feel that I've accomplished something just a little bit magical. There's still some magic left in this world, and I think it's most powerful when manifested in the form of words scrawled across many blank pages. Granted any magic contained within my work will be of the dark variety...but I wouldn't want it any other way. ;)
I live in Martinsburg, West Virginia with my little old pug Cerberus. When I'm not writing, I enjoy hiking mountain trails, weight training, getting tattooed and being a garden variety introvert in his late 20s. Oh, and reading too (duh).

I am a Michigan-based author, an ecologist by training and a writer by choice. I write primarily fantasy, mystery, and horror. I have a particular soft spot for lighthearted fantasy and really well-constructed mysteries that just barely give you enough information to put it all together yourself.
They say to write what you know. When I'm not writing, I spend a lot of time scowling at clipboards while ankle-deep in the marshes of Southeast Michigan. So I’ve written of forest-bound terrors, desperate races through wetlands, and at least two different types of mischievous woodland spirits. There’s a lot of time to think about these things when you’re walking alone through unknown woods.
The bird in the picture is named Autumn. She’s a wonderful old great-horned owl I used to work with. She’s in her mid-twenties, she’s paralyzed in one wing, and she had some very choice words for me about that particular presentation at Belvedere Castle, New York City.
I hope you enjoy my stories.
Blair Daniels began writing to cope with the stress of being a new parent. She lives with her husband and sons in a rural part of the US, where they lead a simple life raising chickens, playing video games, and hanging out at Costco.
