I've enjoyed origami since my childhood in Omaha, Nebraska. When I first started doing origami, there were fewer than five origami books that were easily available in English. All diagrams were done by hand, there was no email, no Internet. I was lucky to have lived in New York City in the 1970s, and was a frequent visitor at the Origami Center of America, which was also the home of Lillian Oppenheimer, the woman who did more than anyone to promote the art of origami throughout the world.

Nowadays, there are hundreds of books in English, all easily available, and thanks to the Internet, origamists from all over the world can stay in touch with one another. I have origami friends in Japan, Brazil, Germany, Israel, Great Britain, France, and the Netherlands, to name just a few places.

Over the years I've conducted many origami workshops in camps, schools, museums, community centers, and libraries. These days, I coordinate a monthly origami club that meets at the Roxbury Park Recreation Center in Beverly Hills, the fourth Sunday of every month, from 1-4 PM. Robert J. Lang has been an avid student of origami for some forty years and is now recognized as one of the world’s leading masters of the art. He is one of the pioneers of the cross-disciplinary marriage of origami with mathematics and organized the 2006 Fourth International Meeting on Origami in Science, Mathematics, and Education at Caltech. He has consulted on applications of origami to medical devices, air-bag design, and space telescopes, is the author or co-author of nine books and numerous articles on origami and lectures on the connections between origami, mathematics, science, and technology. Nick has been folding paper since the early 80's and has been a member of the British Origami Society for over 25 years. He has contributed articles and designs for the magazine in almost every issue since 1987 and has served on their council for over 20 years. He edited their bimonthly magazine for 5 years and has maintained their web site for over 15 years. In 2004 he was awarded the "Sidney French medal" - the highest award the society can offer, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to origami. In 2009 he was made an honorary member of the Society.

Since the mid 80s, Nick has worked as a professional origami teacher, travelling round schools, libraries, youth clubs, hospitals and art galleries, teaching origami and paper artwork. He runs sessions with people of all ages and physical abilities. He currently teaches several sessions a week in primary schools.

He has appeared on television in England and Germany, and has fulfilled numerous commissions for magazine, television and internet advertising campaigns. Over 200 of his original origami creations have been published in 13 countries around the world, including a Japanese newspaper. He has submitted work to many prestigious exhibitions around the world. In 1994 he won three of the five categories for the International Alice in Wonderland Origami competition.
