I love the blue blob, aka Esen, and her perspective of the universe. In this book, she and Paul, her first and best friend, are on a quest to save ships from being destroyed in space by a mysterious monster. It turns out the mysterious monster's favorite meal is a web-being and Es must put herself into the jaws of the monster, somehow, to save others.
The author has a definite knack for taking an alien life form and truly bringing them to life. Add in a good story line and you have a terrific space romp with all kinds of interesting characters. For me, Julie never disappoints and I'm delighted she has brought back my favorite character, Esen.
