A friend of mine who used to work for Nutro recommended this kibble for my 27 lb terrier mix because she had a skin allergy attributed to chicken. He said this recipe was specifically designed for dogs with grain/chicken allergies. It worked! I fed it to her, and her skin rash went away.

Now, however, Mars, Inc. has purchased Nutro, and made big changes to this product to make it more profitable for them. Namely, they added chicken meal as the 2nd most-prominent ingredient in this kibble. Now, there is more chicken than rice in this dog food, so I don't know how they get away with calling it "Lamb and Rice"—it should be called "Lamb, Chicken and Rice."

Hence, since my dog is allergic to chicken, I will now be buying "Merrick Real Lamb & Sweet Potato Recipe" which is a little more expensive, but not misleading about the ingredients in it: it has no grain or chicken in it.

I'm very disappointed in Mars for taking away the primary selling point of this food; that it doesn't have chicken in it...and not notifying customers about the change :(
