Tl;dr: Long-time foes finally find their flame, with some badass fashion in the background.

Synopsis: Lavinia has always been the pretty cousin, the rich cousin, the cousin with all of the proposals from wealthy gentleman across the ton. From the cliffhanger to our last Wilde adventure, we know that the tables have turned, and Lavinia starts our story out with proposing to her long time nemesis, Parth (adopted brother to the Wilde family) in a last ditch effort to save her family and her reputation. Rather than accept her proposal, Parth commits to helping her find a husband (#swoon, bc let’s be real, we all love this trope the most).

True love prevails in the end, but not before misunderstandings abound, plenty of eavesdropping goes down, and a whole trousseau is sown from scratch by none other than our heroine herself, who is basically the Anna Wintour of her time, #fashion #werk.

What I Liked – I love series work from Eloisa James. Each book builds, and her supporting characters are so brilliant that by the end of each book, you’re yearning for those supporting character’s own books (example - Iomagen & Rafe, #swoon). Same story here. I’ve been invested in Parth since Alaric’s story, and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve loved Lavinia since we first saw her as Willa’s friend as well. Seeing them together was the conclusion to the first arc in the series (the Wilde older brothers), and I’m excited to see the transition to the Wilde women as the next arc.

What struck me the most about this story was the fact that Lavinia turned out to be more than just a pretty face. She battled with self-image and self confidence and prevailed. I loved her journey from someone who felt badly about themselves for loving fashion and fabric and lace, to someone who felt pride in their mastery of art. I was so proud of her by the end, and proud of Parth for seeing the master that she was.
