Bayou Dreaming is the third book in Lexi Blake’s Butterfly Bayou series but can be read as a standalone.
I loved this book and that the heroine has such a prominent role in the little town of Papillon parish’s community. Papillon is a little parish in Southern Louisiana and is home to some of the best characters I’ve ever read. Roxanne King came from being on one of the elite teams of NYPD to being a Deputy with Papillon’s police force. She’s slowly starting to feel like she may belong in this little community but isn’t quite sure yet.
I loved that the animals played such an important part in this book as much as the other human characters did. There’s Daisy, Sunny and you can never forget Otis, the resident alligator.
However, Zep and Roxanne are definitely the lead characters of this story and their interactions are so unique and funny that I couldn’t help but giggle with some of their conversations. One of my favourite parts was the town hall meeting. Oh my! Haha!
I highly recommend reading this book and the entire series as you will not regret doing so.
