I bought the audible version of this book as a “daily deal”, not aware that it was a children’s book. I'll be more vigilant in the future! I started the book while running errands in my car, but could only endure about 30 minutes of the monotone musings of Ivan the gorilla before giving up on it. Perhaps the vapid contemplations were meant to express the empty existence of the caged protagonist, but is that really the way to grab the reader’s attention (especially a child reader)? We miss you Doctor Seuss!

Footnote: although it wouldn’t have made it any more interesting, Ben Stein would have been a excellent narrator of such monotony.
