I'm going to keep this review short. I've read Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, Heretics of Dune. These prequels from B. Herbert and K. Anderson is far easier to read that F. Herbert's. Why? Because the writing style of the prequels is much easier to comprehend, follow, and absorb. B. Herbert and K. Anderson wrote it in a casual form. One challenge I have with F. Herbert's writing with this Dune books was it tended to be all over the place; suffering from what I call "are we still talking about the same thing, or is this a completely different topic altogether?" syndrome. F. Herbert just goes way off-course with his writing, and then goes back to the plot after about three pages on. With the prequels, it stays on course, provides enough opening for the reader to dwell into each characters thoughts without digressing too far into some philosophy, metaphysical ideas. Get the prequels. You will like it.
