This book is absolutely fantastic! The story of Rick, called Brick by his friends, and Nyla is full of loss, betrayal and love. She used to work for his family and dated his older brother Jimmy, until one night, it all fell apart and she was sent away. Four years later, she will show up in his life again and he will do everything he can to remember that she is the enemy and remind her that their past must never be spoken of. But roads paved with good intentions have pot holes and their road is one of those. They can’t fight the attraction between them but old family secrets will keep them apart. It will take him being threatened by someone on campus for those secrets to come to life and relieve him of the guilt and sense of betrayal he has felt for the last four years. This will allow him to finally see just what Nyla means to him and give them both the chance at something wonderful.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
