I was expecting this to be an enjoyable, but forgettable, novella in the overpopulated genre of Regency Romance. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to find a well-written story with an excellent blend of pert, witty dialogue and excellent character development.
Lucy has always been a wallflower due to her unusual height and poor self image. Cyrus proposes to her without any emotional investment in his choice based on her being the most prudent choice for him to obtain his goals of restoring his family's reputation and earning himself a title.
What I particularly liked about this story is that Lucy takes charge of her own life in a believable way. She doesn't act completely outlandishly (no dressing in men's breeches or running away), but she does pick herself up, gain some pluck and self confidence, and forces Cyrus to see her for the incredible (and attractive) woman she is once she finds her own self worth.
I very much enjoyed this story and found that the dialogue and the heroine's personal growth made it stand out from the Rengency romance pack.
By the way, this is a novella and is a little over 100 pages on your kindle. Well worth the price to purchase.
