One tip: if the knobs are a little bit too close (preventing from squeezing the sides), you can install them sideways and have them open left/right (see my photo).
Also, the other tip I read for using the hair dryer to remove the adhesive works very well. I'd installed one of them the wrong way, and using the hair dryer I could get the adhesive off cleanly with no problems.
