I have read all of Mary Wine's books, and it is a true pleasurable reading experience. She just gets better and better with each book. Her historical knowledge is strong and when reading her Highlander stories, she easily takes you back to that time and places you there. Grabbing you in the beginning with a fate you can't help but have feelings towards sucks you in immediately. I read this book in two days because I absolutely couldn't put it down. I wanted to know every single thing that was going to set Ailis and Braic back each day. I wanted to to see how each of them were going to overcome years of hatred between two families, and more than anything I wanted to see them fall in love. Wine knows how to keep her readers in suspense and on the edge of their seats. I thought I was going to scream every time I thought that it would finally be Ailis and Braic's moment when they would finally couple, only to have yet another interruptions. It drove me crazy all the prying eyes, and controlling McPherson's that interfered in their relationship. It was fun having all those emotions though. I even found myself cry for a second for Ailis and her assistant Helen because it was so hard for women back then not being heard. On top of all the factors that were against them dealing with their feuding clans, they also had to deal with enemy clans neighboring them. Not giving anything away...read the book!! It's sooo good! There is always something around the corner guaranteed to happen when you read Wine story.
