Customer Review

This story was moderately entertaining but fell far short of Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy. Though supposedly set in the same period and general geographic area as The First Law, it did not seem that way. Anyone who has watched a Hollywood western will very quickly envision that they are reading about one, complete with wagon trains carrying settlers to a new life in an unknown territory in the American west. There are cowboys and Indians (ghosts), decadent and decaying small tows with villainous strongmen battling each other, searching for largely non-existent gold and countless other western soap opera cliches'. All-in-all this is the least enjoyable of the 6 Abercrombie novels I have read.
