Let me start by saying that I liked this book very much. Firstly, I really appreciated that the book was historically authentic. Some may not understand why I stress this but characters that occur in books tend to stay with me. Hence, when reference is made to a real person, I really appreciate if the facts around this person are real, exactly because I will remember them at a later stage I appreciate to remember them in the right context. This is what happened in this book. James III was a real historical person and the historical circumstances around his person and his time where correct.
Secondly, I loved the plot, which was multi-layered and complex without being so twisted that I lost track. There was a lot of historical background information, which added depth to the plot and offered an interesting read. However, I felt that the dynamics between the main characters faltered towards the end of the book and didn't reward me with a worthy HEA. Taking the plot elaboration into consideration, I expected more drama and romance.
Anyway, this was a very enjoyable historical romance and for lovers of this genre a must read.
