The description of this desk mat is spot on. If you really are concerned about possibly damaging your desk surface, this does provide protection; it does not slip, and the items on it don't slip either. However, I eliminated the mouse pad because my mouse glides on this mat effortlessly. Did I mention that the mat looks pretty nice on my desk?
