Like the late, largely only seen posthumously writings of Tolkien as he 'explored' Middle Earth ever deeper and vaster- so the mature voice of the master, LeGuin, returns to Earthsea and brings back wonderful material. Several of the stories are now among my all time favorite pieces of fiction, utterly perfect craft. and wide wisdom worthy of Archmage Ged, whose appearance is - oh, words fail. And the tale of Ogion's master, who stayed the furry of the earthquake on Gont.
And the story of the founding of Roke.
Ah. As good as it gets.
