An Extravagant Death is yet another excellent book by Charles Finch. I am a devoted fan and this one did not disappoint. I enjoyed the bits if American history woven into this murder mystery, as well as details about life in New York and Newport during the late 1800s. I missed the usual parts played by Jane, Graham, and Ed, but they do show up near the end. One aspect I enjoyed was how the author wove in a connection between Jane and Mrs Aster, very clever. True life characters played roles with the fictional Charles Lenox and his family in ways that felt believable and important to the plot lines and led you further down the path of wrong suspects. Did you guess the murderer? I didn't! This is quick read that moves along ever more quickly. It was over too soon. Read it!
