Mr. Macaw turns out to be a kite, which I found interesting and unusual. It leads the children on an adventure. The pictures are fun and some of the colors are vibrant, which is something I appreciated. The text is simple and so is the plot, which may appeal to a young audience.
The text is written so that there is a line of English, followed by the sentence translated into Spanish.
I had to look up what paletas are on my own, which is something I would have clarified in the book to those not familiar with the culture. I am happy I learned something new, but I also would have wanted it in the book so I did not have to look it up on my own.
