I enjoyed the first book I had to buy this one the very next day, which is pretty unusual with me! The sequel has all of the cleverness and love of old monster movies that made City of Devils so entertaining, with more world building and some melancholic depth as to what a world of monsters would mean to the innocents forced to live in it. Although all the new characters are great, I the standout is Gelatin Keys - an enthusiastic, slightly dimwitted blob monster who tells the sort of incomprehensible "jokes" a 4 year old just learning about jokes likes to tell, who veers from cute to extremely creepy. Eagerly awaiting more fun from this author.
