This book is really more of a journal, a chronicle and description of the early stages of grief, particularly in a death that is somewhat unexpected, but it doesn't necessarily get to the insights/reflective stage, she just wasn't there yet. It might be helpful for someone who needs empathy in the fresh part of grief, someone to share in that tumultuous/shocked phase. My heart broke for her and it was beautiful in a few parts, but much like early grief, it was a bit chaotic and (this sounds rude but I mean it in the literal sense), immature. Our culture is so lacking in grief work, resources, or a healthy mindset around death that I think all honest expressions of grief are refreshing and needed, but I think I was looking for something else.
