This novel is an open window into what one writer’s life might be like. I liked the way the author slowly reveals Casey’s past as her present life spirals downward with anxiety. Her description of anxiety attacks is right on target, and it is a relief when the confirmation finally comes that yes, the things that have happened to her are not nothing, they are indeed understandably capable of wreaking havoc. I was a bit disappointed in the ending. It seems too tidy and too much of a stereotypical happy ending. The real gem in the ending is real author’s essay. I loved it! Such insight into an author’s writing process is rare and I appreciate that Lily King shares this with her readers.
