As I read the first 50 pages of this book, I kept telling myself to stop reading it because his story was so dark. It was full of details that shocked and disturbed me. I never knew that kind of a life existed. I am new to addiction, having a family member currently in treatment. I need to know about it. I skipped to the last few chapters because I needed to know how Danny survived and got his life back. I didn't need to be a part of all the gory details of his years of addiction, criminal activity, and relapses. I needed hope. The ending gave it to me. I am glad I did not return it (Kindle edition) even though I am still emotionally disturbed by the realities of an addicted life. My eyes are wide open now. I know what not to do about enabling. That was valuable. I am grateful for the advise Danny gives at the end of the book and I am glad I finished reading it. It gave me a desire to pray for all addicts, that God will save them from themselves. And to pray for others who are in desperate need is a good thing. There are many out there.
