This book was a disappointing end to the series. The first disappointment, was the sudden change in writing style. The previous books were all written in the first person from Sookie's perspective. The story would have been so much better if the reader learned the background settings via Sookie investigsting/discovery it by herself. I also got the impression that the author had lost interest in the story (maybe the series should have only had eight books) and the sprawling story made it difficult to tie up all the loose ends. It was also disappointing that every male homosexual character in the series was either killed off or portrayed in a negative light. Overall, it was unsatisfying that Sookie resorted to stoking homophobic fears to escape.
