Having read 60 of the Stone Barrington novels, it is quite noticeable that the "author" suddenly has enhanced vocabulary in recent years. The lead character, Stone Barrington has lost some of his original "class" as has the Holly Barker character. In real life politicians are just as sleazy as these characters, so totally plausible but a bit lacking in substance. The antics of food, drink, travel and sexcapades in recent novels is more pronounced than an actual intriguing storyline. If you like the current Stone Barrington character stories, this one will be fine. There are no unexpected twists and turns, story unfolds as anticipated. This novel is prefect for easily passing time, its an entertaining novel that doesn't take much thought and reads fast.
